Root Canal Therapy
Inside every tooth there is a “nerve” that is protected by a few millimeters of tooth structure. Due to infection, trauma, deep fillings the nerve can die out.
The dying nerve can produce pain. When the nerve dies out, the infection can then spread to the surrounding bone. This is called an abscess.
To treat such an infection, the tooth needs to be extracted or saved via root canal therapy. Root canal therapy allows-
- To retain the tooth
- Relieve the infection
- Allow the tooth to return to function
The procedure is predictable, however the prognosis of the tooth depends on the quality of the seal on the tooth.
